Dr. Murtagh's current position is Doctor of Pulmonology, ICU and Sleep
Medicine at SleepCare Diagnostics. Dr. Murtagh has a long history of working at some of the nation's most prestigious medical institutions, including the National Institutes of Health, Emory University, Parkland
hospital, Grady hospital and University of Michigan. After only four
years of working at Emory University, Dr.James Murtagh earned tenure.
 

Murtagh has been awarded more than $2 million in grants for innovative
research, and was awarded two patents for DNA detection methods.
Murtagh authored more than 40 articles and contributed to books
on more general medicine topics and on bioethics.

Dr. Murtagh has prolifically written articles to alert the public to the need to treat sleep disorders, and wrote two bills for the Georgia Senate to sound the alarm about sleep deprivation and its impact on motor vehicle accidents. In his spare time, Dr. Murtagh enjoys sailing, skiiing and reading science fiction and watching classic movies.
A prolific writer of movie reviews, Dr. Murtagh is a member of the writer's guild.
